Message from Dean Hankins
Welcome to the College of CLASS at UA Fort Smith, where we provide students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to be successful in a variety of academic and career pursuits. Our goal is to transform our communities through the values, skills, respect, and discipline that we impart to students. With a holistic approach, our College environment promotes the intellectual, social, civic, and cultural transformation of our students. We aspire to educate students both as citizens and as the next generation of leaders in our communities.
Our dedicated cadre of professors deliver a rich curricula; emphasizing skills in critical thinking, oral and written communication, and problem solving. Our students integrate, synthesize, and apply knowledge in multiple contexts and disciplines. Diverse and specialized internship programs exist to provide students with professional experiences to help them prepare for success in the workforce. Student organizations related to areas of interest within the College provide students with opportunities to engage and serve. Our professional and faculty advisors are knowledgeable and use a personalized approach in honoring their commitment to students’ success and their overall welfare.
With a spirit of academic excellence, innovation, inclusion, and social responsibility, we educate teachers, translators, interpreters, therapists, counselors, police officers, probation officers, social workers, broadcast and sound technicians, musicians, artists, performers, researchers, writers, editors, graphic designers, marketing and public relations agents, and others. Many of our graduates have gone on to become successful lawyers, entrepreneurs, psychologists, chief executives, and legislators.
